Town & Country Connection – MAY 2020

Town & Country Connection – MAY 2020

Town & Country Connection

As Minnesota’s unofficial kick-off to summer, May seems to buzz with happenings: Graduation parties, campground festivities, weekends in the boat or at the cabin, and Memorial Day BBQs! Although our celebrations this year may look different from years past, we look forward to them just as much – if not more! Enjoy!

Our goal for 2020 is to protect you and your assets to the best of our ability, by providing you with the education, options and assurance you need to do so.

Did You Know

THAT counts as a “claim?”

Some insurance companies could consider towing assistance as a “claim.” Or, if you replace your windshield & it’s covered by insurance, that too counts. Basically, anytime the carrier has to pay money on your behalf, its a notation on your account.

These payments, along with increased risk (for future, additional payments) is how your premium is calculated. The more payments they make on your behalf, and the riskier you are, the more you pay for your premium. Yes, you *can* get lower premiums for the 1st year or so with a new company, but they will likely increase after your introductory period. The best way to ensure minimal increases is to stay consistent, update/review your policies regularly, and avoid being a risk! A good way to save on towing claims is to get a AAA membership, which we can help you obtain as well.

Auto-Insurance Tip: Many companies now offer usage-based auto insurance programs. We work with quite a few companies and have various options available. Let us know if you are interested, or find out more here.

Recipe of the Month

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon-Sugar Chips

Christy offered up a summertime favorite!

Fruit Salsa

  • 2 apples-peeled
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 3 kiwi, peeled
  • 2 peaches (mango or pineapple taste good too)

Dice all fruit into small pieces, combine and  stir them together.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cinnamon-sugar Chips

  • 5 soft tortillas
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon
  1. Use a pizza cutter to cut the tortilla shells into triangle pieces, place in separate bowl.
  2. Melt 3 Tbsp of butter and drizzle over the tortilla pieces (or you can brush the melted butter on the tortillas before cutting), stir until all pieces are covered.
  3. Mix the cinnamon & sugar together and sprinkle over the tortilla pieces, mix again to coat all pieces.
  4. Place the tortilla pieces on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-9 minutes.

Serve with the Fruit Salsa.

Insurance TipsNo-Contact Life Insurance Process

Now more than ever, we have come to realize the importance of life insurance. Whether it is COVID-19, Cancer, Diabetes or another life-threatening disease, we all know someone who has passed unexpectedly. It is important that we all have financial securities in place, and plan for the future of our families. One of our Life Insurance companies is now offering a virtual, no-contact application process.

Congratulations Class of 2020!

Never would we have imagined the circumstances under which our young adults are graduating, and the words to show our awe and amazement of what our young leaders are experiencing are few. Here are three of our favorite celebrity commencement speeches, from Oprah, Tom Hanks, and Ellen DeGeneres. From all of us at Town & Country Insurance, congratulations Class of 2020!

“It’s vital that you learn and we all learn to be at peace with stepping into the comfort of the unknown. …Can you the class of 2020 show us not how to put the pieces back together again, but how to create a new, and more evolved normal. A world more just, kind, tender, luminous, creative, whole. We need you to do this.” -Oprah

2020 Giving Back

Now more than ever, our community organizations and nonprofits need us, need you, need each other.
While we don’t ASK for referrals, we do rely on them. We don’t pressure you like other agencies out there, but instead strive to provide you the best possible experience, so you’ll WANT to share it with your friends, family & neighbors.
So to say thank you, we are asking our top-referrers to help us spin the wheel and pick the local organization that will be receiving our donation!
We all know that warm tingly feeling we get inside when we do a good deed… well now we are passing that onto our top referrers, so they can feel it too!
Click here to learn about our latest wheel spin, and see a list of this year’s donation recipients.
